October 4 –  “Beyond Group Homes”.   In this presentation in the After I’m Gone series,  a speaker will discuss the various community living options available to people beyond group homes with support from the Mental Health System.

October 12 – Just Fun Club Halloween Dance. 7:00 – 9:30pm at Thurston High School, Redford, MI. Annual dues in the JFC are $5. There is a separate charge for each monthly JFC event. If you are not a member of the JFC, call Lana Richardson at The Arc NW (313-532-7915).

October 12 – Special Olympics Benefit – Wayne/Westland Area 23. At: Stevenson School, 38501 Palmer Rd., Westland, MI 48186.  From 7 – 9pm.  General Admission: $10, Special Olympics Athletes $5. Ticket Info – Beatrice at: 734-721-1011 or gwhistle@comcast.net.

October 25 – “Supporting People in Decision Making”.   In this After I’m Gone presentation, Attorney Roxanne Chang will discuss the various options available to people in making important decisions, such as Power of Attorney, Representative Payee status, and Trusts.


All After I’m Gone sessions are held Thursday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Information sessions are held monthly during the school year.

The After I’m Gone Program assists families who have a child or an adult with a disability in planning for their future when they are no longer able to provide care.
